Internet Archive (hit with a DOS attack here a day or so ago) and HATHI are wonderful.
I find a lot of stuff at https://www.academia.edu/ - if you don't want to subscribe then you can just hit up the author of the paper you want - they'll often send it to you.
If you have any friends in grad school, they can access JSTOR from their university accounts usually. Often reference librarians at your local library can access JSTOR .
Bruce how do you get recognized over at Hathi Trust I’ve hunted up many an obscure volume over there but I can’t download it because I’m not an “affiliated institution.” How DO you get that designation with them?
Could they at least add value? Increase the resolution, do a better scan when pages are missing, or clean up the document?
