Once, on an episode of The Blacklist, the well-spoken pistolero so ably played by James Spader used the word ‘legerdemain’ to describe a trick he played on a bad guy. When doing this, he pronounced the first half of the word as if he was referring to bookkeeper’s journal (‘ledger’) but the last like the French word for ‘tomorrow’ (demain).
