Home Made Share Images
In the world of workarounds, the simple solution will wait for the tinkerer to try more complicated approaches. So it is with the share images that my fellow Substackers and I use to advertise our work.
In a recent post, I spilled much electronic ink to explain the use of the ‘empty triangle.’ It was not, however, until I had put that piece to bed that I realized that I could avoid a great deal of amateur surveying by typing my own text on the pictures I would like to share.
Consider, if you will, the two images that follow. Substack produced the first. I made the second in far less time than it would have taken be to find a picture that expressed the idea I was trying to convey and, at the same time, sported a suitable expanse of empty space in its upper left hand corner.
I used Keynote - the presentation program bundled with the Mac operating system - to ‘toast’ (as they used to say in the broadcast biz) the painting. However, if I had used PowerPoint, which was made for folks who love fancy lettering, I might have made the lower label a little less opaque.
